Riverside upsets Chardon
(9-10-22) Last night Chardon was upset by Riverside 21-7 ending the Hilltoppers 31 game consecutive game winning streak. With that loss Marion Local, from the Midwest Athletic Conference (MAC), now has the longest streak In Ohio HS football with 20 consecutive wins.
Last night the Flyers handled MAC rival Delphos St. John’s 54-0 for the 20th consecutiv win. Next week Marion Local will face another MAC rival New Bremen, who is 4-0, after the Cardinals win last night win over previously undefeated and defending Ohio D V state champion Versailles 14-7.
Thanks to winning the 2021 OHSAA D VII state title over Newark Catholic 42-7 and finishing the regular season at 16-0, added to the 4-0 start this season the Flyers now hold the top spot.
Who is next in line?
Last season Carey beat Coldwater (another MAC team) in the Ohio D VI state Championship game 26-14. The Blue Devils finished the season at 15-1 after losing their opening game of the 2021 season to Hopewell-Loudon 30-15. They are presently 4-0 this season and are just one game back of Marion Local with 19 consecutive wins.
