(12-24-21) A new tradition continues at Eastside in Butler, Indiana …the celebration of the ‘Old Gym’. This week the Blazers competed in a wrestling match and a double-header of boys and girls basketball games vs. Heritage. Aaron Willard and staff did it BIG and did it RIGHT.

Elvis sang the National Anthem, Willie Nelson entertained at half-time, the programs had the ‘old-days’ touch…a night to remember.

With the success of the HOOSIER GYM in Knightstown, the ‘OLD GYM’ in Butler is another successful turn-back the clock facility.

The ‘Old Gym’ celebration brought out the media, the positive coverage and the PR it provided is priceless.

Both Eastside coaches and their teams looked forward to the game, they both told the the Butler Bulletin

Eastside girls coach Mike Lortie

“I felt it this morning when we were in here for our shoot-around at 8:30, The girls were just happy, glad to be here.

“Just walking into this place, even when it’s empty, it’s special. ”

Boys coach Ed Bentley said-

“This group’s been really good at not looking ahead at things, but you know this game’s been on their mind, especially the seniors, with the environment.”
