(10-21-21) The 2021 OHSAA Football Playoffs will see in increase in teams participating, from 8 to 16 teams in a region…double the number from the past. The move was not popular with many, including some coaches who had proposed the regions be expanded to just 12 teams making the playoff eligible list.

After this Friday night we will see the results of doubling the field, below is what the 16 seeds looked like after week 9 in Divisions 4, 5, 6 and 7.

Two schools stand out as 16 seeds… in D IV Deer Park with a 2-7 record would make the final cut, while Arlington with a 7-2 record, the most wins in this group to make it.

Two 0-9 teams in D I Region 1, Euclid and Lorain are tied for the 16th spot with 0 points…so this might cause some eyes to roll, is there a tie-breaker or a toss of a coin….how about rock, paper scissors?

The top 3 divisions has more teams in the 16th seed with losing records then the bottom four divisions.
