(10-13-22) Brandon Beam and Bobby Carpenter, who are heard weekday mornings at 6AM ET on 97.1 The Fan in Columbus had a ‘frank’ discussion (link to podcast below) yesterday with OHSAA Executive Director Doug Ute. The topic included OHSAA’s finances and member schools still not receiving ticket revenue.
Both issues should be a concern for school administrators and athletic directors around Ohio.

COMPLETE MINUTES – OHSAA BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING MINUTES
(September 30, 2022)
While the OHSAA continues to benefit from schools paying a participation fee and the association keeping all ticket income the bank account is in very good shape.
At the last Board of Directors meeting (September 30th) it was announced that three new part-time employees will be hired, no details of cost to the association.
The report said the OHSAA has $12 million dollars of operating cash.

The finance report also included the announcement of a $2 million dollars transfer to an investment account…no details in what that money will be invested in.

With the current inflation numbers and high cost of gas to transport athletes to tournament events…schools remain responsible for all of that.

The OHSAA is one of the most bloated and corrupt agencies you will find anywhere…one way to save money would be to cull the top heavy bureaucrats sitting on their expanded rear ends in Columbus. But instead they like will just continue to increase Officiating License Fees for the ever dwindling number of high school and lower level sports officials.
